Lines around the eyes give a variety of emotional expressions, most of which convey a negative impression.
Taking Care Of Your Eyes
The eyes may be the window to the soul, but if you don’t take care of them they’ll also speak volumes about your age—and how late you stayed up last night. Before you know it, crow’s feet, dark circles, and other cosmetic facts of life can leave you looking older and less fresh than you feel. Fortunately, these and other trouble spots around your eyes can be cleared up—and prevented—with some simple fixes.
You can call crow’s feet “laugh lines” or “character lines,” but these slightly more flattering terms still refer to the same, inevitable sign of aging: the wrinkles that begin to form at the outside corners of your eyes when you hit your mid-twenties. They may show up earlier for people who don’t take good care of their skin and later for those who do. But either way, crow’s feet are all but unavoidable.
The skin on our faces stretches like a rubber band, thanks to a property called elasticity. This means that it can return to its original form after being pulled or compressed — pretty important when you think about how much we move our faces. Unfortunately, as we get older, our skin loses its elasticity. That’s why we form wrinkles and certain parts of our body start to droop. One of the main reasons for this is that our bodies’ production of collagen and elastin, two proteins responsible for our skin’s elasticity, lessens with age. Botox — short for botulinum toxin injections — literally relaxes those muscles so they can’t contract. It works by blocking the chemical signal that travels from your nerves to your muscles, telling them to function.
Powder Room’s comprehensive approach uses the safest and most effective techniques and typically includes a combination of therapies:
Treatment – BOTOX® Cosmetic
Botox Cosmetic® is a medically refined substance that relaxes the muscles responsible for causing lines, furrows or other unwanted appearances. It is injected with very fine needles and is commonly used to relax the muscles that cause lines (crow’s feet) around the eyes or frown lines between the eyebrows. Botox® can also be used to achieve a brow lift to reduce hooding of the upper lid that occurs with aging and brow decent. This results in a more rested, brighter look to the eyes. The effects of Botox® may take 1 to 14 days to appear and generally last 4 months. While it is considered relatively safe and effective, potential side effects of Botox® can include bruising, swelling and localized pain at the injection site. BOTOX COSMETIC® is a registered trademark of Allergan Inc.
